Access
Most online resources on the Library website are available from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.
Use your culinary email username and password to login to get full-text of articles and ebooks.

 

Interlibrary Loan
If there is a book or article that we do not have in the library, we will get a copy for you through Interlibrary Loan, a free service for all CIA students, staff & faculty.

Cite & Organize Your Research

Omnivore and most Library Databases provide tools to create citations. Locate & click a citation tool button e.g. CITE to generate a citation.

Online Resources to help with creating citations and organizing your references/bibliography:

Your Library Account in Omnivore

  • Sign In : click the button on the top right corner
  • Enter CIA username & password on MainMenu Portal screen​
    • you will be returned automatically to Omnivore
  • Your name will be appear on the Sign In button
  • Click your name to view the drop-down menu
  • Select from the menu: My Account, My Personal Lists, or Sign Out

Manage your Bibliography with a Personal List in Omnivore

  • Save books & articles to "My List"
    • Records are stored temporarily and will clear when the session ends
    • See instructions below to save records to your account
    • Save up to one hundred records
    • Privacy notice: If you are using a public computer and you leave the terminal, your list will be visible to others until the session times out
    • To clear entries from your temporary list:
      • Remove one record at a time by using the red icon beside each record
      • Delete all records by clicking Select All
      • Click the Gear icon and select Delete Records
      • A message opens to confirm this action
      • Click Delete Records to continue or Cancel to return to the list
         
  • Create and Save Records to a New Personal List
    • Search for the records you would like to include in a list.
    • Click the Save icon to add the citation to the list
    • Click My List in the upper left corner to display the list
    • Select items or Select All
    • Click on the Gear Icon
    • Select Create Personal List
    • Provide a List Name (required) and List Description (optional)
    • Click Save
       
  • To Save Records to an existing Personal List
    • in My List, click on the Gear Icon
    • Select ​Move Records
    • click on a list name
    • Click Select List
       
  • Cite Tool
    • Select some or all items
    • Click Cite to create a citation list of all selected items
    • Copy & paste into your document
