Creating Your Conference Presentation
-
Remember your audience and their level of knowledge about the subject. You may need to omit introductory information and vocabulary.
-
Define the key message that you want your audience to understand. This message should be part of your title.
-
Create a well-structured presentation using text and visuals.
-
Keep the size of your text large enough for your audience to read. Use text size 18 or larger for body text. Headers should be larger.
-
Choose a legible and professional font style. This is not the time to use Curlz or Comic Sans.
-
Consider color contrast. Ensure your text doesn’t blend in with the background.
-
Consider using a template.
-
Use visuals that help your audience understand your topic.
-
Avoid using images that are not relevant.
-
Avoid too much information on each slide.
-
Use slides, graphs, and videos that help audience understanding.
-
Use accessibility features if possible, such as closed captioning.
-
Try to make the presentation as interactive as possible. Consider asking questions or using polls. This will help your audience remember your presentation more.
