Moodle Quick Start Guide for Students

Using Moodle as a student

Getting Started in Moodle

1.  Accessing Moodle: Through Your Student Portal

Your Moodle site is linked directly to your school's main systems for security and convenience.

  • Step 1: Go to your main Student Portal/Homepage. The most direct way to access your courses is by signing into the CIA Main Menu  with your student username and password.
  • Step 2: Find the “My Classes” block (picture below).  This area will contain all courses currently available for you to access. When you click on a selected course from “My Classes” block in the main menu, you should be automatically logged into Moodle.
  • Step 3: Log In. Use your standard student ID and password (the same one you use for email and registration).

Pro-Tips:

  • Once you are logged in, you may want to bookmark the Moodle page for quicker access in the future.

  • If you don’t see your class listed in Moodle, it means your instructor hasn’t opened it to be accessed yet. You can email the instructor as a reminder.

  • The key takeaway is this: Because Moodle has deeper features, you MUST interact with it more often and pay close attention to the layout your instructor uses.

2. Your First Steps Inside Moodle

Once you log in, you will land on your Dashboard. This is the most important page!
