Manually Grading Quiz Questions

Often, you will include open-ended questions in quizzes, and Moodle will not be able to grade them automatically. I would not let this deter you from adding meaningful questions to a quiz.

Step 1

Open the Quiz on the Course Main Page and Click on Results.

Step 2

Click Manual Grading to access all the quiz questions by all the users that need to be graded.

Step 3

Click on the Grade, Update Grade, or Grade All link. •	You will only view the questions that require manual grading. If you click Grade All, you will view all the manually graded questions on one page.

Step 4

You can control how many questions are on one page and the order of the questions. Every open-ended question will appear in this scroll. Attempts are organized by questions. When grading a response, you can leave comments, and you must give a value for the Mark. When you scroll to the bottom of the page, you will see a save button. Save often.

How do I review Quizzes?

Step 1

You can choose exactly who the attempts in the display are from by clicking on the dropdown “Attempts from.” You can choose between in progress, overdue, finished, or never submitted. Modify your display options and then click Show Report.

Step 2

Each question and each student’s response are displayed in the grid. You might need to scroll to the right to see all the questions. Click Review Attempt to view details of the students’ quiz attempt.
